Did you know that there are 168 Dominicans in MLB spring training
There are more Dominicans than ever on the Major League Baseball rosters as the time for Spring Training fast approaches. There are 30 teams in the National and American Leagues that have at least one Dominican on their 40 man rosters. Dominicans make up 15% of the men on MLB rosters. From the Texas Rangers with 12 "criollos" to the Minnesota Twins with just one, Francisco Liriano, these ballplayers will earn a reported RD$7.9 billion over the coming year. In the list published by mlb.com, Albert Pujols tops the list of the 100 best baseball players in the world. Number three is Vladimir Guerrero and number 5 is Alex Rodriguez and number seven is Miguel Tejada, followed by Manny Ramirez. Five out of the top ten players. Not bad. But it does not end there. From Alfonso Soriano at #18 to Jose Guillen at #93, there are ten more Dominicans, including Sammy Sosa and Pedro Martinez.
