El 1er teniente Rafael Eduardo Sánchez, de 27 años de edad y el 2do teniente Carlos Manuel Guerrero de 25 años, fueron las víctimas de este trágico suceso que hoy ha enlutado a nuestra nación. Ambos participaban en la apertura del Show aéreo que se llevaría a cabo esta tarde en el malecón, como parte de la representación de la Fuerza Aérea Dominicana, institución a la cual los organizadores del evento concedieron un segmento dentro del marco de apertura del mismo.
Los ocho aviones Tucano que forman la escuadrilla Fumaca, actracción central del evento, serían piloteados por oficiales de la Fuerza Aérea Brasileña. La escuadrilla Fumaca goza de gran popularidad en el mundo debido a lo espectacular de las acrobacias que realiza.
Las causas que originaron que el avión se estrellara en aguas del mar Caribe mientras hacía acrobacias para el público son todavía inciertas y serán comunicadas a la sociedad dominicana luego de agotados los procedimientos investigattivos de rigor, según expresó el jefe de la Fuerza Aérea Dominicana, Rafael Hernández.
Que el Señor conceda fortaleza a los familiares de estos jóvenes dominicanos que hoy perdieron la vida en este lamentable suceso.
